The house
Layout #
Woeste Willem has two entrances: the front door and the utility room (same key).
In practice the utility room is the handiest way in when you come back from the beach or the dunes. There is a shoe rack, the washing machine and the dryer, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet — so the sand does not have to come into the house.
From the utility room you step into the open-plan kitchen, looking out over the garden and the trampoline. The living area is spacious and light: a sofa, two armchairs, a television, a play corner and a dining table for eight. There are two Tripp Trapp high chairs. There is also an IKEA high chair in the storage room, which works outdoors at the picnic table too.
The front door brings you into the central hall, which leads to three bedrooms and to the second bathroom with shower and toilet.
The stairs take you to the upper floor: a large open sleeping area looking out over the meadows to the south and the dunes to the north.
Bedrooms and beds #
In total there are 2 double beds and 3 single beds — together sleeping 7 people. There is also a cot and a toddler bed.
| Where | Floor | Bed | Size (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bedroom 1 | ground floor | 1× double | 160x200 |
| Bedroom 2 | ground floor | 1× single | 90x190 |
| Children’s room | ground floor | cot and toddler bed | 55x110 and 70x160 |
| Upstairs, right | upper floor | 1× double | 160x200 |
| Upstairs, left | upper floor | 2× single | 90x190 |
About the upper floor #
Upstairs, the two sleeping areas are not separated by a door. The double bed is on the right, with a large washbasin; the two single beds are on the left.
That is lovely for a family that likes to sleep more or less together. If you would prefer more privacy or quiet, the ground-floor bedrooms are the better choice — those have their own door. Worth bearing in mind when you divide up the beds.
Children’s bedroom #
On the ground floor there is a separate room for the smallest visitors to Woeste Willem, with a wooden cot, a toddler bed, a changing table and a washbasin.
- The cot is suitable up to about 2.5 years
- The toddler bed is suitable from about 2.5 to 5 years
Bed linen #
Bed linen is included in your booking as standard. The sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are ready for you when you arrive. You make up the beds yourself. The double beds also have single duvets (2 per bed).
In your welcome email we set out what we are assuming: which beds will be slept in, and how many sets for double and single beds we will put out. We base that on the number of people in your booking.
Would you like a different arrangement? Two single beds instead of one double, for instance? Or to use the toddler bed instead of a single? Let Lianne know via WhatsApp well before you arrive, and the right bed linen will be ready.
Bed linen for the cot is a separate option in your booking. If you have not chosen it, we assume you are bringing your own fitted sheet and sheet/blanket/cot duvet.
We kindly ask you not to use the beds that have not been made up — including for putting down bags or clothes, or for changing small children. That is more hygienic for the next guests.
Kitchen #
The open-plan kitchen is well equipped. Among other things you will find:
- Fridge with freezer compartment
- Gas hob
- Combination microwave (oven and microwave function)
- Nespresso machine
- Filter coffee machine
- Kettle
- Dishwasher
- Stick blender
- Pans, crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils
A note on the combination microwave #
The combination microwave has two trays: one for the oven function and one for the microwave function (marked “MWO”). Use the right tray for the right function. The wrong tray in the microwave will cause damage.
Bathrooms #
There are two bathrooms, both with a shower and toilet:
- One in the utility room — handy after the beach
- One off the central hall
Both showers have a large and a small squeegee. After showering, wipe down the floor and walls and make sure the room can air:
- Shower in the utility room: open the window
- Shower off the hall: leave the door open as much as possible
Storage room #
The storage room (same key) holds the garden cushions, beach toys, beach chairs, nets and crab lines. Guests are very welcome to use them. If something goes missing or gets damaged, please just let us know. Then we can replace or repair it for the next guests.
The beach bike and the men’s and women’s bikes at the back of the storage room are not for guest use.
Garden #
The house sits in the dunes, so there are plenty of spots in the garden to sit and play, in sun or shade. There is a large picnic table, a separate round table and a variety of garden chairs (garden cushions are in the storage room). The large trampoline is our children’s favourite. Please note: it has no safety net. Use at your own risk.
Washing machine and dryer #
The washing machine and dryer are in the utility room.
Empty the dryer’s lint filter after every load (unfold the filter first). This matters for fire safety, and the dryer works considerably better for it.
Detergent is in the cupboard in the utility room. There is a clothes airer and pegs too.
Heating #
The house is heated by radiators. The thermostat is in the living room: a black, square box (Tado).
By default the thermostat is set to heat in the morning and the evening. You can turn it up by hand whenever you like.
We would appreciate it if you avoid heating unnecessarily, and keep doors and windows closed while the heating is on.
Smoking #
Smoking is not permitted in the house.
Pets #
Pets are not permitted at Woeste Willem.
